The Emergency Service Units (ESUs) are the multi-faceted element within law enforcement's Special Operations command. The role of an Emergency Service Unit is to deliver a range of functions which may include SES functions, fire fighting and fire prevention functions within a community, through an integrated approach to human resources, plant and equipment allocation.
The ESU operates at the direction of the command staff and responds to emergency and high-risk situations that occur outside the scope of duties of responding patrol and criminal investigation units.
